Men's Health and the Barriers to Seeking Care

Men are significantly less likely than women to seek medical care — even for serious or chronic health conditions. Research consistently shows that societal expectations, discomfort discussing sensitive health issues with a provider, time constraints, and a belief that symptoms will resolve on their own are primary barriers to men engaging in preventive and primary care. Conditions like erectile dysfunction, STIs, hair loss, and lower urinary tract symptoms carry particular stigma, leading many men to delay care for months or years while symptoms worsen and underlying causes go unaddressed.

Telehealth significantly reduces these barriers. Men can access a confidential, board-certified clinical consultation from the privacy of their home, workplace, or any private space — without waiting rooms, without traveling, and without face-to-face encounters that many find inhibiting. There is no judgment. There is no audience. Just a focused, professional conversation about your health.

your board-certified provider, provides comprehensive men's health evaluations through Innocre Telehealth for patients in Delaware, Maryland, and Washington. Every visit is HIPAA-compliant, fully confidential, and conducted with clinical respect and discretion. Whether you need treatment for a specific condition or a broader health conversation, Innocre is ready to meet you where you are.

Innocre's Approach to Men's Health

Men's health conditions are treated at Innocre with the same evidence-based rigor and clinical respect as any other area of medicine. your provider recognizes that discussing erectile dysfunction, sexual health, urinary symptoms, or mental health can feel vulnerable — and creates a clinical environment that is direct, professional, and free of judgment. Visits are structured to efficiently address your concerns while ensuring the clinical thoroughness needed to prescribe safely.

Low testosterone screening (measuring total and free testosterone levels) can be ordered as part of a comprehensive men's health visit and is relevant to multiple conditions including ED, fatigue, decreased libido, and mood changes. While testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) is a complex area requiring careful patient selection and ongoing monitoring, the initial screening and evaluation process can begin via telehealth. your provider will review lab results with you and recommend appropriate next steps.

Mental health is an integral part of men's health. Depression, anxiety, and work-related stress are prevalent among men and frequently go untreated. Innocre can provide initial screening and counseling referrals. For patients who may benefit from pharmacologic mental health treatment, your provider can evaluate appropriateness and coordinate care. Note that controlled medications (including certain psychiatric drugs) are not prescribed via telehealth.

  • Priapism (prolonged erection lasting more than 4 hours) — go to the ER immediately
  • Sudden testicular pain or swelling — testicular torsion is a surgical emergency requiring immediate care
  • High fever with chills and urinary retention — possible septic prostatitis requiring IV antibiotics
  • Thoughts of self-harm or suicide — call 988 (Suicide and Crisis Lifeline) or go to the nearest ER
