If you do not have health insurance or you have a high-deductible plan that has not met its deductible yet, every medical visit comes with a cost question attached. You need to know what you are paying before you book. And too many healthcare providers make that information impossibly hard to find.

This article breaks down what telehealth visits actually cost without insurance, what you get for that cost, and how to make the most of self-pay telehealth. We will also explain Innocre's pricing clearly because we believe you should never have to guess what your healthcare will cost.

The National Picture: What Telehealth Typically Costs

Telehealth visit pricing varies widely depending on the platform, provider type, and visit complexity. For patients paying out of pocket, here is what you can generally expect across the industry.

Large telehealth platforms like Teladoc, MDLive, and Amwell typically charge between $75 and $100 per visit for general medical consultations without insurance. Some offer subscription plans that reduce the per-visit cost but add monthly fees whether you use the service or not. Specialty consultations such as dermatology or mental health visits often run $150 to $250 or more.

Direct primary care telehealth practices, including Innocre, typically charge a flat fee per visit with no membership or subscription required. These range from $50 to $150 depending on the practice and the complexity of the visit.

For context, an in-person primary care visit without insurance averages $150 to $300 nationally. Urgent care visits average $150 to $200 before any labs or procedures. Emergency room visits start at $500 and climb rapidly. Telehealth is consistently the most affordable option for non-emergency medical care.

Innocre's Pricing: No Surprises

At Innocre, our pricing is straightforward because we believe cost transparency is a basic requirement of ethical healthcare.

Standard Visit: $68

This is our standard telehealth visit rate. It covers a full consultation with a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner, including evaluation, diagnosis, treatment planning, prescription if indicated, and follow-up scheduling. There are no additional platform fees, no prescription-sending charges, and no hidden costs.

Community Care: $23

We offer reduced pricing for patients who face financial barriers to care. Community care visits at $23 provide the same quality of care, the same provider time, and the same follow-through. Eligibility is based on self-reported financial need. We do not require documentation of income. If you say you need the reduced rate, we trust you.

What Is Not Included

Our visit fee covers the provider consultation. It does not cover the cost of medications at your pharmacy, lab work ordered through external facilities, or specialist visits if referred. These are separate costs that vary based on your pharmacy, lab, and specialist. We always discuss cost implications before ordering anything and help you find affordable options.

How to Pay for Telehealth Without Insurance

HSA and FSA Cards

Health Savings Accounts and Flexible Spending Accounts can be used to pay for telehealth visits. This is pre-tax money you have already set aside for medical expenses. Innocre accepts HSA and FSA cards directly. If you have an HSA or FSA with available funds, your telehealth visit effectively costs less because you are paying with pre-tax dollars.

Superbills for Insurance Reimbursement

Even if Innocre does not bill your insurance directly, you may be able to get reimbursed. After your visit, we provide a superbill, which is a detailed receipt with all the information your insurance company needs to process an out-of-network claim. This includes your diagnosis codes, procedure codes, provider credentials, and visit date. You submit this to your insurer, and depending on your plan's out-of-network benefits, you may receive partial reimbursement.

Credit and Debit Cards

We accept all major credit and debit cards. Payment is collected at the time of your visit.

Why Self-Pay Telehealth Can Actually Save Money

It sounds counterintuitive that paying out of pocket could save money compared to using insurance. But for many patients, particularly those with high-deductible plans, the math works out in favor of self-pay telehealth.

If your deductible is $3,000 or more and you have not met it, your insurance is not paying for routine visits anyway. You are paying the full negotiated rate, which is often higher than what a self-pay telehealth visit costs. A routine primary care visit billed t

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a telehealth visit cost without insurance?

+

Telehealth visit costs without insurance typically range from $45 to $300 depending on the platform and visit type. At Innocre, a standard visit is $68 and community care pricing is available at $23 for qualifying patients. There are no hidden fees, no membership requirements, and no subscription costs.

Can I use my HSA or FSA card for a telehealth visit?

+

Yes. Telehealth visits are eligible expenses for both Health Savings Accounts (HSA) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA). Innocre accepts HSA and FSA cards as payment. This means you can use pre-tax dollars to pay for your visit.

What is a superbill and how do I use it for insurance reimbursement?

+

A superbill is an itemized receipt that includes diagnosis codes, procedure codes, provider credentials, and visit details. You submit it to your insurance company for potential out-of-network reimbursement. Innocre provides superbills after every visit at no additional charge.

Is telehealth cheaper than an in-person doctor visit without insurance?

+

Generally yes. An in-person primary care visit without insurance averages $150 to $300. Urgent care averages $150 to $200. Specialist visits can exceed $400. Telehealth visits typically range from $45 to $100 for primary care concerns, making them significantly more affordable for self-pay patients.

Are there hidden fees with telehealth visits?

+

At Innocre, there are no hidden fees. The price you see is the price you pay. There are no membership fees, no subscription costs, no platform fees, and no charges for prescription sending. Some other platforms charge additional fees for prescriptions, follow-up messages, or require monthly memberships.

How much do prescriptions cost on top of the visit?

+

Prescription cost depends on the medication and pharmacy, not the visit. Generic antibiotics, antihistamines, and common medications typically run $4 to $20 at chain pharmacies and even less with discount programs like GoodRx or pharmacy savings cards. Branded medications can cost more. Your provider can usually choose a generic equivalent and let you know about price differences before sending the prescription.

What if I need labs or imaging — what does that cost?

+

Labs and imaging are billed separately by the lab or imaging center, not by Innocre. Most labs offer self-pay pricing for uninsured patients (often $20 to $80 for routine tests like a basic metabolic panel or urinalysis). Imaging like X-rays usually run $50 to $150 cash, while MRI can be several hundred dollars. We can help you find lower-cost options before ordering.

Are there discounts for adolescents or families?

+

Innocre charges the same flat $68 rate per visit for both adults and adolescents 12 and older. Each patient visit is billed separately because each requires individual clinical time. Our community care pricing of $23 is available for qualifying patients regardless of age. HSA and FSA funds can be used for any family member's visit.

Will I be charged if I cancel or miss my visit?

+

Innocre's cancellation policy allows you to reschedule or cancel without penalty when done with reasonable notice. Last-minute cancellations and no-shows may be subject to a fee — full details are in our cancellation policy. If you have technical trouble joining your visit, contact us right away and we will work with you to reconnect or reschedule without a fee.

Does Innocre offer payment plans?

+

Because visits are $68 (or $23 with community care pricing), most patients pay in full at the time of service. We do not currently offer formal payment plans for individual visits, but the community care rate makes care accessible for many patients who would otherwise struggle to pay. If cost is a barrier, please ask about community care pricing when you book.
